Build a productive dubia roach colony with a balanced mix of breeding adults and feeder-sized roaches. This starter colony includes:
- 10 female dubia roaches
- 5 male dubia roaches
- 25 XL dubia roaches
- 50 medium dubia roaches
- 100 small dubia roaches
Recommended Setup
For best results, keep your colony in a clean 7-gallon tote with proper ventilation. A heat pad, thermostat, and temperature gun are strongly recommended to help maintain a stable environment.
For breeding, aim for an enclosure temperature of approximately 86°F. Always use a thermostat with the heat pad to help prevent overheating, and use a temperature gun to monitor the enclosure regularly.
Building a Strong Colony
Allow the colony to establish and reproduce for at least six months before using the breeding population as feeders. During this setup period, purchase additional feeder roaches as needed instead of feeding from the starter colony.
Adding more dubia roaches over the six-month minimum timeline can help increase colony size and improve the chances of maintaining a steady breeding cycle. The larger the established colony, the better its potential to produce a consistent supply of feeders.
Provide fresh food and moisture regularly, keep the enclosure clean, and monitor temperature and colony growth to support long-term success.
Disclaimer: Egg crate and bin are not included.
