Hornworms: hydrating, nutritious feeders

Hornworms are soft, watery feeders that help hydrate reptiles and add variety. They’re high in calcium and low in fat, good for bearded dragons, chameleons, leopard geckos, skinks, and amphibians. Give 1–3 per feeding by size. Use as a treat or supplement, not the main diet.

Feeding and care

  • Hornworm Feed: Repashy Superhorn

  • Size: Match worm size to your pet’s mouth. Cut larger worms into halves or quarters for small juveniles to avoid choking or impaction.

  • Frequency: Offer 1–3 times per week as a supplement. Cut back if your pet skips staple foods.

  • Storage/handling: Keep live worms at room temperature and feed within days; longer storage requires proper culture conditions. Remove uneaten worms to prevent spoilage.

  • Safety: Wash hands after handling. Don’t feed worms raised on questionable substrates or those with mold, parasites, or bad smells. Feed with Repashy Superhorn if desired.
